Assignments

Dears students,

in the following weeks we will work every Tuesday in our afternoon class with the book by Alexie Sherman. Of course, parts of your work will have to be done as a homework as you will need to do some internet research or might want to do some tasks with the help of your computers.

In the end everybody will have an individual reader or portfolio about the book and we – as a class – will have created a sample solution blog with the best student solutions that you can access at any time.

These are the tasks everybody will have to do:

ASSIGNEMENTS – PART 1

Buy a folder and make a plan how you want to design yourportfolio (content + graphics etc.). Then …

  1. Create an individual frontpage (your ideas count) with the title of the book, its author plus our school’s & your name. = page 1
  2. You will need to write a contentspage with your entries and the page number = page 2
  3. While reading the book a summary of each chapter has to be written. Don’t forget only to focus on the most important aspects and do not copy & paste from the internet – I will check whether your words are really yours!
  4. Write an entry about the setting of the book.

These are the tasks you can decide what to do:

ASSIGNEMENTS – PART 2

  1. As you know every literary work deals with topics. Choose one topic that you find important and write about it. Don’t forget to refer to pages/lines in the book.
  2. Vocabulary plays a decisive role in every book. Create a word cloud or cluster that resembles the most important words and phrases.
  3. The book has got a lot of autobiographical links. Do some background research about Indians and reservations and write about one topic of your choice.
  4. One the blog you will find a list of creative writing tasks: choose three of them and add them to your portfolio.
